COMING JULY 18: FALCON and TRIO LIVE
Phil Madeira’s latest—FALCON—features a stellar crew of musicians and singers. John Thompson of True Tunes describes the record as a “greatest hits” except that it’s all new music, with the exception of Madeira covering his song “Maybe”, originally recorded by Alison Krauss.
A recording full of goodwill, “Falcon” looks at the road Phil has been down, vaguely tracing his musical journey, and touching on all the facets of his music, from the guitar oriented tunes of “PM” and “Motorcycle”, to the rich piano work of “Providence” and “Open Heart”. Regret, hope, healing- it’s all there on the Falcon record, and a highlight is the touching “Lesson Of Love”, which has been released with a stunning video by the great Kurt Lightner, who art directed the album.
Recorded in one afternoon with Bryan Owings on drums and Chris Donohue on bass, TRIO LIVE showcases the well-oiled machine that the trio is. No fixes, no frills, just a band listening to each other, responding, reacting and grooving. Visiting music from “Providence”, “Bliss”, and the first Red Dirt Boys record, this is a beautiful document on friendship, brotherhood, and unity.
